Research
My research departs from SSI and geotechnical earthquake engineering. It aims toward the vulnerability assessment and resilient-based design of soil-foundation-structure systems at a local or urban scale. Moreover, I have been focusing on Geotechnical Seismic Isolation using soil mixtures with recycled materials, such as recycled tires. Lately, I have also been working on an earthquake early warning and early damage assessment of critical infrastructures, such as schools or industrial structures. I have participated in more than 30 European projects and have large experience in all-scale testing of soil-structure systems (shaking table, centrifuge, field-scale structures). I am responsible for the EuroProteas SSI facility in Euroseistest and for the shaking table of our Laboratory of Soil Mechanics, Foundations, and Geotechnical Earthquake Engineering of AUTH.
